Posted March 10, 2020 09:19:13The ABC has been told a strange object has been spotted in the North Queensland sky in recent weeks.
The sighting was first reported in late March by two local women on Facebook.
A few days later, the sighting was confirmed by local authorities.
The object is estimated to be about the size of a small car.
Local radio station 4AW reported the object was a “large triangular shaped craft” which appeared to be moving slowly towards the south-west.
ABC meteorologist Paul Edwards said the object could be a meteor shower, possibly a comet, and was about 10 kilometres long.
“It is definitely not a meteor,” he said.
“There are plenty of other objects in the sky that have not been spotted so far.”
The UFO is not believed to be a space craft, but could be an asteroid, which can cause a meteor impact.
It is thought to have been sighted on the night of March 9 and 10.
More to come.
