The Steelers need a run game, and they might be able to get it in the form of running back Ben Roethlisberger.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Monday that the Steelers have “substantial interest” in Roethisberger, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
The source added that Roethislove had a meeting with Pittsburgh’s front office and has “every intention” of signing with the Steelers.
The Steelers reportedly made Roethisinj the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, but he never played a down for Pittsburgh.
Roethinj has rushed for 985 yards in seven seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including 2,749 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2017.
The 26-year-old also has a league-leading 17 touchdowns.
Steelers owner Art Rooney II has been adamant in the past that he wants to keep Roethisch and the team as strong as possible.
The team has a roster full of talented running backs, including Roethish and James Conner.
But it’s clear that Roathlisberger is the best option for the team.
The only question is whether the Steelers are willing to spend the money to add a quarterback to that team.
